// An Ode to Self Care: August Edition //

1.     Light a candle

2.     Set boundaries to protect yourself, your space, and your spirit

3.     Don’t get caught up in what was, could’ve, or should’ve been. Accept what is and act accordingly

4.     Disconnect and spend time in spiritually grounding environments. Mine typically involve locations surrounded by water, foliage, and are usually quiet

5.     Invest in yourself

a.     This includes personal business investments if applicable, as well as quality products and services

6.     Find the balance between planning and spontaneity

7.     Make lunch your largest meal of the day rather than dinner

a.     Because restoration and recharging happens within the body as we sleep, it is critical to avoid eating large dinners, even if dinner is eaten 4 hours prior to bedtime. Digestion can take up to eight hours in the human body, so when we eat large meals before sleep our body is focused on digesting rather than being repairing

8.     Remember that authenticity can take you places that imitation cannot

9.     Do not equate self-care to spending money. If you had zero $, what would your self-care routine look like? Those are things/practices/activities that you should be indulging in regularly

10.  Establish what it is that you want. More carefully, consider what it is that you need

11.  Carry a refillable water bottle with you (almost) everywhere you go. This will help you stay on top of your daily water intake
